PACS Desktop Viewer
Images are grouped into a series that are defined when the study is created and are default based on the image source. These series will appear on the thumbnail panel and in the layout manager. Sometimes, studies contain images grouped into series that a user may prefer to view individually. Other times the image orientation of images in a series may vary by vendor. It is possible to configure the orientation of each image and regroup them accordingly.
You may link together multiple series into independent groups of linked series. For example, if you have four series rendered in the viewer, two sets may operate independently from each other. Up to 8 independent linked groups may exist simultaneously.
There are some cursor and icon actions that can be synchronized between linked series:
Zoom
Pan
Scroll
Flip
Rotate
Mirror link*
Magic glass link*
*Mirror link - zooming and panning will be mirrored on a linked series
*Magic glass link - activates magic glass on linked series
To link two or more series:
Click the Link icon
Click and hold it in one of the images and drag it to another
The link icon will appear in the upper left of each linked image with a number for the link group.
To remove a series from a linked group:
Turn off the link cursor by clicking the default cursor
Hover over the link icon in the image's upper left
Cursor will become the delete link icon
Click on icon to remove link
Tools are provided for automatically separating images based on their orientation, ungrouping series into single-image series, and manually splitting a series into one or more series.
The dropdown menu for managing series is located in Tools/Series:
Series Functions | Description |
Auto Link on Load |
When a study is initially loaded into a session, series in the same image plane and tagged as spatially related to each other by the imaging modality are automatically linked. |
Auto Load |
Automatically links an already open series in the same image plane and tagged as spatially related to each other by the imaging modality. |
Find Series Localizer |
Separates localizer images that are grouped in series with non-localizer images into their own series. |
Split Series |
Groups together images in different planes or using different acquisition parameters, into individual series. |
Sort Series |
Sorts images by image position, or slice number when position information is unavailable |

There are two ways to reset a cut series:
