Image Enhancement

The image enhancement toolbar provides access to the image sharpening, smoothing and edge detection tools, preset enhancement settings and the image enhancement control panel. The resulting images are displayed in image frames, making them available for other tools such as magnification, window/level, annotations, etc.

To adjust the image enhancement with preset settings:

  1. Pull down the Image Enhancement dropdown on the Window/Level toolbar

  2. Click one of the enhancement options.

The image will change according to the preset value for the selection. Select No Enhancement to reverse action.

It is possible to set customized processing parameters. Processed images can be uploaded to the server as presentation states and saved as key images. Image enhancement settings can be defined and applied as needed or saved as presets and applied by selecting the preset setting from a list. These settings can also be combined.

Image Enhancement Manager

It is possible to set your own processing parameters using the Image Enhancement Manager. Processed images can be uploaded to the server as presentation states and saved as key images. Image enhancement settings can be defined and applied as needed or saved as presets and applied by selecting the preset setting from a list. Settings can be combined as well, meaning you can apply (and save) a specific smoothing filter and edge detection settings simultaneously.

There are two ways to reveal the Image Enhancement Manager box:

Note:  Image must already have an enhancement for the Image Enhancement icon to appear.  It will be located in the upper left corner of the image frame.

Double click an Image Enhancement option to reveal a detail box. The Image Enhancement parameters can be adjusted and saved as presets. As stated above, parameters can be changed simultaneously with all three parameters open at the same time.  Click the + to add more enhancement options and combine them.

In this example Sharpness/Small has been selected.  The dropdown in the bottom left corner allows you to change the parameters.  Previous filter reverts the parameters back to their original preset state.

To change a parameter, hover over the scale and either and up/down or left/right arrow will appear.  Drag the mouse up and down to adjust the values.  Select the Auto Preview box to see the results before saving.

When the desired enhancement parameters have been adjusted, it is possible to save as a preset option that appears in the No Enhancement dropdown.  Select the save tab and a screen will appear that allows you to name your preset customized enhancement as well as add a description.  Click the Save and the new preset will appear in the toolbar.
