Orientation markers indicate the position of the imaged body and will appear in the center of each side of the image. Letters are used to indicate the orientation of the image.
A - Anterior (or front)
F - Foot
H - Head
L - Left
P - Posterior (or back)
R - Right
? - Unknown
If the gantry was tilted during the acquisition, there is a chance the direction increases in multiple directions. When this is the case, the orientation markers are multiple values, and are listed in the dominant order. For example: an LH (Left Head) marker would indicate that the vector is leading to the patient's left side but also towards the head. Orientation markers are determined from information encoded in the image object. When the image object does not provide enough information for eRAD PACS to accurately determine this information, no orientation is provided and a ? will appear in place of the orientation marker.
To reveal the Orientation markers:
Click
the Orientation Info icon
Select View/Orientation info
Pressing the F11 toggle
Repeat the action to remove the markers from the image.
When the orientation marker contains multiple values, the orientation cube can provide a visual representation of the image to understand the degree of tilt in the image.
To reveal the orientation cube:
Click the Orient cube
icon
Select View/Show orientation cube
Pressing Alt + F11
Repeat the action to remove the cube from the image.
