The Spine page contains settings to control the Spine labeling tool behavior and defaults
General Setting | Option/Default | Description |
Spine label triangulation | Enabled | Displays the same point where a spine label is inserted in all three axes simultaneously for a study containing multiple series in multiple orientations |
Show spine labels across studies | Disabled | Show spine labels across studies that share the same frame of reference |
Exam types | Options/Default | Description |
Exam type | Default (default), Cervical, Lumbar, Sacral, Thoracic | Type of exam the auto-identified settings apply to. Default defined the settings when the exam type cannot be determined. |
Create new exam type | Empty | Allows the user to input a new custom exam type for the auto-identified settings to apply to. |
List of keywords used to identify an exam type. Keywords are case insensitive and must be found exactly as defined in the study's Series Description or Body Part.
Select an exam type from the Exam type drop down menu.
Type the new keyword in the Add
new keyword: text box then click the Add
button
Select the keyword then click the single Trash
button
To delete all keywords for a selected exam type click the Double
Trash button
This is the starting point for the vertebral labels. Select the starting vertebra. If the Label type is set to Vertebra the tool defaults to labeling vertebral disks.

Starting vertebra | C1 | This is the stating point for the vertebra labels if Vertebra is selected as the label type. |
Starting interspace | C2-C3 | This is the stating point for the disk interspace labels if Interspace is selected as the label type. |
Include L6 | Disabled | If enabled, include L6 in the list of Lumbar disks. If disabled, L6 is not included in the default list of lumbar disks. |
Reverse direction | Disabled | If disabled, labeling progresses in the direction from cervical to sacral disks. If enabled, labeling progresses in the reverse direction. |
Show lines | Enabled | If enabled, labels appear with no lines connecting the label to the focal point. If enabled, lines connecting the label to the focal point appear. |
Hide panel automatically | Disabled | When enabled, hides the annotation panel automatically after drawing the first spine label. |
Controls the display labels on all images in the relative planes checked.
Display labels on planes | Default | Description |
Axial | Enabled | Display label on axial images. |
Sagittal | Enabled | Display label on sagittal images. |
Coronal | Enabled | Display label on coronal images. |
Applied plane | Disabled | Display label on images in the same plane as the one used to label the spine. |
Defines the prefixes for disk labels. Numbers will append automatically. Type changes into the text box next to the corresponding spine level.

The height and width of the vertebra and interspaces used when locating the intersecting points on orthogonal images.
To adjust values, use slider bar or type value into text box.
