This is an unusual build in that it does not represent a large number of new features as the build number would suggest.  There were a number of simultaneous features/bug fixes created in the 17.6 build, the 18.1 build and the 18.2 build streams.   To represent the fact that so many streams were coming together in this one code base, we gave it a new build number, but those of you who are more closely attuned to the feature set and code bases can consider this build a 2018.2.[next].
