Feature #23242 – Improvements to Direct Messaging Inbox to support archiving and auditing

The Direct Message Inbox feature has been enhanced to better support archiving messages that have already been handled, as well as increasing usability with a helpful message audit history and intuitive filtering options.

A dropdown box at the top left of the worklist allows a user to choose whether the Inbox will display:

·         Current Messages (i.e. all except archived)

·         Unread Messages

·         Archived Messages

When viewing the Inbox using the Current Messages option, unread messages can be distinguished by their bold font.  They will also not have a checkmark in the Read column.

A number of actions can be taken by right-clicking on a message:

·         Open Message

·         Mark as Read

·         Mark as Unread

·         Archive

·         Move to Inbox

o    Essentially acts as an un-do option if a message was archived by mistake.

·         Audit History

The Audit History option shows a log of when a Direct Message was received, read, marked as unread, or sent to/from the archive.

It is possible to filter the results in the Audit History to make it easier to find a particular action or view the actions that were taken by a particular user for the selected message.

Feature #20476 - Support for incoming Direct Message XML files that contain attachments

This feature enhances eRAD RIS’s Direct Messaging by adding support to save any Direct Message attachments to a file or to link the attachment to a patient.

Supported document types are:

·         .BMP

·         .JPG

·         .JPEG

·         .GIF

·         .PNG

·         .PDF (embedded or non-embedded)

When a Direct Message contains attachments, they will be displayed at the bottom of the Direct Message, as clickable links.

When viewed, the XML attachment will be displayed as HTML like it did before, but with an added breakdown of the embedded files.  The attachment can be saved to file, by clicking the Save Attachment button, or can be linked to a patient’s Attachments, by clicking the Link to Patient button.

Clicking on an embedded file in the list will extract the images to be viewed and the user can review them using the thumbnail list.

The dropdown is available to allow the user to choose the Document Type for the embedded file.  The Document Type will default to the configured value for ElectronicOrderScanDocumentType but the user can make adjustments.  If linked to patient, the embedded file will be saved as a Patient-level attachment, with each page displayed as a separate thumbnail.

PDF attachments function almost exactly as embedded PDFs; however, because it is not embedded, the file list is unnecessary and the thumbnail list will start from the top.

Image attachments (GIF, JPG, PNG, BMP) are also supported.

Clicking the link for the image file will display the image, which can be saved to file or as a Patient-level attachment, just as with the embedded files.
