Summary

This enhancement to Billing introduces a new patient-friendly description for billing codes associated to scheduled procedures for display in SSRS forms.

Background

New Federal U.S. legislation requires a "Good Faith Estimate" document to be provided to Self Pay patients to explain their estimated costs. The Good Faith Estimate document will be created as an SSRS form. The form needs to display each billing code that is associated to scheduled procedures. However, the true description of the Billing Code can be worded in a way that is quite confusing to a patient. For this reason, we need to be able to configure an alternate, patient-facing description for the Billing Code that can be pulled into the SSRS template for the Good Faith Estimate form.

Feature Description

With this change, a new optional Patient Friendly Description column has been added to the BillingCode Lookup Table Editor.

At this time, this alternative description is not displayed in the RIS or Portal GUI.
