Digital Forms

Feature #30385 – Dynamically refresh Digital Forms when Patient/Visit/Order/Study values are updated

Summary

This enhancement to Digital Forms updates digital forms to automatically reload with new values throughout the workflow.

Background

Previously, fields that were mapped to questions on a digital form would only populate upon the initial load. Any related changes or additions made after the initial load would not update the values on the digital form.

The best example of this is where a new appointment window is first opened without patient context. The digital forms load with an empty patient/visit/order/study dataset. However, when a patient is added after the fact, the digital forms dataset remains blank rather than refreshing with their related values.

Feature Description

With this change, fields mapped to questions on a digital form will automatically refresh and reload when related patient/order/study values change in RIS.

For example, when a digital form question is mapped to a RIS field and the user switches from the digital form to a different tab to update the field, that change will now populate when the user switches back to the digital form.

Specifically,

·         Digital forms will now reload after a patient is selected and merged during the scheduling or walk-in workflow.

·         The RIS UI will track changes for fields that have been mapped to digital form questions (including extra data mapped fields). When the user switches to a different tab, stored changes are pushed to the digital forms.

·         Filtered mapped fields are ignored (including those that have no filter value).

·         If data was manually entered into digital forms before the refresh, it will only be overwritten if the field is mapped.

·         Expressions will recalculate with any overwritten data.

Known Limitations

The following significant limitations have been identified and should be communicated to affected users:

·         Expected behavior by design (from #30385) - Change tracking in RIS UI only

o    Digital Forms will update with changes from the current user only. Changes made outside the RIS UI by the system or another user at the same time will not be recognized until the form is closed and reopened.

Feature #32003 – New Digital Form Answer attribute to allow creating a RIS Alert

Summary

This enhancement to Digital Forms introduces the option to set a Patient Alert when a question within a digital form is answered.

Feature Description

This feature includes the addition of a Patient Alert dropdown within the Digital Forms Editor. This dropdown will include all active alerts that are currently configured within the Patient Alert RIS lookup table. Alerts will be applicable to the specific workflow level they are configured for within the RIS lookup table.

When a question is answered in the digital form using a dropdown, checkbox, or radio button, the corresponding checkbox will be marked in the Patient Alerts dialog. Alternatively, if an answer is removed from the digital form the corresponding patient alert in RIS will be updated to reflect the change.

Furthermore, for Text type answers, the Patient Alert checkbox will be appropriately checked, and any freeform text entered in the digital form will be included in the Notes sections of the Patient Alerts dialog.

Feature #32215 – Allow Digital Form Rules to trigger Show/Hide functionality

Summary

This enhancement to Digital Forms updates the Show/Hide functionality for questions to allow a rule to only show a question when a particular answer is given for another question.

Background

Previously, Digital Forms Show/Hide rule sets were triggered when manual changes were made, but not when the changes were initiated by a rule.

Feature Description

This update ensures that Show/Hide rule sets are executed fully as configured within the Digital Forms Editor.

For instance, a digital form is configured with three questions with a rule set to hide Question 3.

·         Question 1 is configured to populate the answer for Question 2 when a specific value is entered.

·         Question 3 is then configured to be hidden when the specific value from Question 1 is entered.

The trigger would be the specific value and then event would be Question 3 being hidden.

No System Administrator actions are necessary to enable this feature.

Feature #33339 – Allow Multiple "On UI Action" Selections for RIS Required Functions in DFE

Summary

This enhancement to the Digital Forms Editor introduces the capability to configure multiple UI actions per question.

Background

Previously, the digital forms editor could only designate a question to be triggered On or After a single, specific UI action.

Feature Description

This change allows questions to be set as required for multiple UI actions simultaneously.

For instance, the same question can be required on or after the Scheduling workflow as well as on or after the Checking in workflow.

The On UI Action button has been substituted with an Edit button, which, upon clicking opens a dialog enabling the selection of one or more UI actions.
