AVI player

The AVI plug-in module requires playback to be synchronized to the workstation clock for series having a defined frame rate based on real time.  This plug-in module automatically downloads and installs when you start the viewer and acknowledge the download prompt.

Playing an AVI file at a synchronized frame rate requires DirectX 9.0 or later and hardware that supports DirectX. Playback performance will be reduced if these components are not installed. For best results, Windows Media Player 9 or later should be installed.

To generate an AVI file from a series of images,

  1. Load the selected images into an image frame.

  2. Click Postprocessing/AVI Player/Create.

  3. The data displayed in the image frame is converted to an AVI file. When complete, play back or save the AVI file to the disk on the local workstation.

The AVI file can not be exported to the eRAD PACS server.

The AVI plug-in looks for the frame rate of the image objects. If the recommended display frame rate (0008,2144), cine rate (0018,0040), and actual frame duration (0018,1242) are defined, the viewer uses these values to determine the defined frame rate. If undefined, the plug-in prompts you for the desired frame rate when it loads the plug-in.

Configure the AVI initialization settings by selecting the Configure menu item from the AVI Player item in the Post processing menu.
