Image stitching

You can stitch two or more images together to form a single, continuous image. A stitched image can be saved to the server and all functions such as attaching, annotating, measuring, etc. apply.

To apply stitching, follow these steps:

  1. Select an image frame.

  2. Click Postprocessing/Stitching. If the image frame contains an image, it loads into the stitching frame automatically. The control buttons for this tool appear in the lower left corner of the image frame.

  3. If the frame is empty, drag the first image from the thumbnail panel or layout manager into the stitching frame.  Adjust the image position and size using the zoom tools or the page up/down buttons.

  4. Add a second image in the same manner.

  5. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the image around to position the second image over the first (match a point on the two images).

  6. Use the magic wand tool to line up the two images. To manually adjust overlap, hold down the shift key and click the left mouse button at the point where both images match best.

  7. A pushpin appears on the image, locking the two images at that point.

  8. Using the rotate and scale tools, drag the mouse over the image to rotate it around the pushpin and adjust the image scale. The gauge on the left shows the signal-to-noise ratio of the overlapping portions of the image. The lower the ratio, the closer the two images line up.

  9. If adding a third image, drop another pushpin on the image to lock the two existing images in place, and repeat from the point of adding an image to the frame.

  10. Double click on the image to save it as a single image object.

  11. All tools such as Cobb angle measurements, cropping, etc., can now be applied to the image. Send it to the archive for use in subsequent sessions or as a key image by selecting send image from the file menu.
