The spine-labeling tool is for labeling vertebrae and disk interspaces. This tool uses predefined labels and displays them in their location on images in all orthogonal planes.
Select the
spine labeling annotation mode by clicking on the button, ,
in the annotation toolbar. You can also click Settings/Cursor/Annotations
or turn the mouse wheel to select the tool after selecting the annotation
mode cursor.
When spine labeling is active, a popup window appears listing the predefined vertebral and disk interspaces.
Field |
Description |
Label vertebrae |
When selected, labels will identify vertebral bodies, starting with the selected body. |
Label disk interspace |
When selected, labels will identify the space between vertebral bodies, starting with the selected space. |
Include L6 |
When labeling, include L6 after L5. |
Reverse direction |
By default, labels automatically progress from C1 to S5. When check, labels progress in the opposite direction. |
Show lines |
Display tether lines from the label to the focus point marking the place you clicked on the image. |
Hide panel automatically |
Hide the spine label control panel automatically after drawing the first spine label. |
Axial, Sagittal, Coronal |
Spine labels are displayed on all images in the relative plane. Applies at the time the image is annotated. |
Applied plane |
Display the labels on the images in the same plane as the one used to annotate the spine. Used to override the explicit setting for the plane. |
To insert labels:
Select the starting point from the pull-down menu, and left-click once to place the label. The label automatically advances to the next label.
Left click again to insert the next label.
To automatically advance in the opposite direction, check the box labeled reverse direction in the spine labeling tool window.
Continue until labeling is complete.
A small dot beside the label indicates the center point of the annotation, and is the point referenced on other images.
To skip a label, change the next label in the pull-down list in the popup window.
To toggle between vertebral labels and disk interspace labels, press and hold the Alt key while clicking.
Drag the text away from its default location to add or remove a line connecting the dots. Select Show line in the popup panel to make lines persist after exiting the annotation mode.
To reposition a label, select the annotation cursor mode to move the label. Then, drag the label as needed.
To remove a single label, select annotation cursor mode, right click on the label to pop up the annotation menu, and select delete selected. Select delete all from the same menu to remove single labels and annotations. To remove all spine labels, including all the labels in intersecting planes, and leave other annotations, click reset on the spine label popup window.
