The Magic
X button allows the same point
to be displayed in all three axes simultaneously. It is used on studies
containing multiple series in multiple orientations (axial, coronal and
traversal).
Follow these steps to use the Magic X button:
Select the Magic X button from the toolbar, or by clicking on Settings/Cursor. The cursor changes to a X.
Place the cursor over the point of interest on one of the images.
Press the left mouse button, and the slices in the other frames containing this point are displayed. If localizer lines are enabled on the other images, you can see how the entire slice intersects the other images.
Click on the image again to return to normal mode. If desired, reposition the images and select the Magic X cursor again.
The Magic X tool uses referenced image details in addition to Frame of Reference UID to identify spatially related images. Since referenced image associations are indirect indications of spatial relationship, the Magic X cursor color changes to inform the user this method is in use. The cursor color is yellow when the intersecting point is on the image, and brown when beyond the image plane.
Magic X out-of-range indicator
The Magic X cursor changes when the icon falls outside a defined distance from the intersecting image. This indicates the referenced image displayed is too far from the primary image, and the intersection is not relevant.
The out-of-range settings are available on the Hash Marks settings page.
