DICOM Printing

When printing to a DICOM printer, select the DICOM tab in the print panel.  This enables all of the DICOM printing options.  

The pull-down menu will list all available DICOM printers as defined by the configuration file.  Select the printer you want to send the print job to.  Every configured printer has default printer parameters as defined in the printer configuration file on the server.  Click through each printer parameter tab to view or change the defaults.

Overlay settings

Overlay information size can be changed by using the Overlay zoom slider bar.

Various tools that control image properties and information are available:

Image settings

Setting Description
Enable upscaling Enables access to the settings below
Minimum resolution Defines the minimum resolution of the image sent to the printer.  If the original image resolution is too small the overlay text displayed on the image may become unreadable when rendered on an image of this resolution.  To prevent this, the user should upscale smaller images.
Image aspect Defines the image aspect form 1:2 to 2:1 (width:height)

 

Film

Layout settings

Setting Description Parameters
Film orientation Specifies the orientation of the film.  Default is usually portrait. Portrait, Landscape
Layout Layout options configured for the selected printer Rows, Columns
Trim Specifies whether the film sheet is to contain trim.  The default is usually no trim. Trim, No Trim
Decimate/crop behavior Specified what happens to the image when it does not fit within the defined boundaries of the image box. Request crop, Request decimate, Request fail

 

Presentation LUT settings

Setting Description
Illumination Sets the value of the presentation LUT illumination field
Reflection Sets the value of the presentation LUT reflection field

 

Session

Session settings

Setting Description Parameters
Copies Defines the number of copied to be printed. Type number or use slider to change
Destination If the DICOM printer multiple destinations, indicate which one to request. NA
Priority Specify the print priority, if supported. NA
Owner Indicate the owner of the print job. NA
Medium type Specifies the type of medium to use in the print request.  The application of this value depends on the capabilities of the printer. Blue film, Clear film, Mammo blue film, Paper

 

Annotation settings

Setting Description
Annotation text Submit this value to the printer to use as annotation.  The application of this string is depends on the printer.
Prepend date Prepend the date to the annotation provided to the printer.
Prepend printer name Prepend the printer name to the annotation provided to the printer.
Prepend illumination Prepend the illumination information to the annotation provided to the printer.

 

Film session label

Adds the displayed string to every sheet as header.  The default value can be changed in Legacy Settings under DICOM fields tab.  In order to appear on film, the DICOM printer must support the Field Session Label feature.

Miscellaneous

General settings

Setting Description
Film size ID Specify the film size
Magnification Specify the the default zoom factor applied.  This is in addition to any zoom factor already applied to the image when it is loaded into the print panel.
Smoothing type Specify the smoothing algorithm to use when interpolating the data.
Border density Specify the density of the border. Usually a value of BLACK or WHITE is sufficient.
Resolution ID Specify the resolution identifier.
Empty image density Optical density to use in areas where no image exists.
Max density Maximum density to use when printing.
Min density Minimum density to use when printing.
Config info Printer specific configuration parameter to send to the printer.

 

Image box settings

Setting

Description
Image box magnification Overrides the default maginification for a specific image.
Image box smoothing Overrides the default smoothing type for a specific image.
Image box config info Overrides the default configuration option for a specific image.
